Sigtuna Guest Harbor

For years and years, people arrived to Sigtuna mainly by boat. The waterway was the most convenient communications path. In the latter part of the 20th century, auto mobiles were introduced and the transportations means changed. All of a sudden, people preferred to go by car or by bus, from the capital Stockholm, to Sigtuna.

In the 1900s, the steam boat from Stockholm to Sigtuna was well used. However, it was not possible to step ashore in the centre of Sigtuna. Instead, people had to take on the anchorage locations outside the town and then be boarded in a small boat to shore.

In 1880 it was finally decided to build a harbour in the city. The following year, the first boat was welcomed with a salute from the town’s canon.

Today, the harbour is a gathering place. Here you can anchor your boat and eat gourmet food or enjoy an ice cream cone on Boathouse Tavern & Bar. And would you come here on a Wednesday with snow on the ground – do as many others, take the motorcycle.

Anchor at Sweden’s first city. Treat yourself to a delicious meal in the harbour, or enjoy a walk around the town.

Sigtuna Boat Club is happy to receive you at Sigtuna harbour, at Tunholmen in Lake Mälaren, south of Stäket, located at southwest Görväln. Lat N 59 26.1 Long O17 43.9

Guest places are to be found outside the pier as well as inside. Boat owners mark their spots with a green sign when they are away for a longer period of time.
