New exhibition at Sigtuna Museum

During 2016-2018 Sigtuna Museum will be exhibiting SIGTUNA STORIES. Different stories about different people from different times in different places. Sigtuna Stories covers the history of Sigtuna from the Stone Age up until today.

The next part of SIGTUNA STORIES will open January 26 at Sigtuna Museum. This part of the exhibition tells the story of seal hunters during the Stone Age, life in Sigtuna town thousand years ago as well as the church’s glory days in the 1500s. The second part, which will open at the museum in 2017, continues to tell the story which spans over the centuries to the people who live here today and their thoughts about the future.



Opening on January 26, at 16-18.30, is the first part of SIGTUNA STORIES at Sigtuna Museum.

The next part of the exhibition SIGTUNA STORIES will open in January.

The exhibition is about Sigtuna’s history from the Stone Age up until today. During the family day, there will be viewings of the exhibition with different themes.

The studio will be filled with materials relating to the particular theme, giving the entire family a chance to create together.

Open at 12-16. Free admission.

Dates: January 28, March 25, April 22 and May 20.

The theme of the first family day on Saturday January 28 at 12-16 will be Hidden forgotten signs – Runes, invisible writing and secret languages.

Using different materials, we will create in the studio or in the museum garden.

We get inspiration from the exhibition and from your own ideas.

For children of all ages. Children under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult. Free admission.

Winter- and Easter holidays at the museum

During the holidays, we look at the newly opened exhibition SIGTUNA STORIES and create in the studio with various materials. For children of all ages. Children under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Open at 12 -16. Free admission.

Winter holidays

Monday, February 27, we build houses from the past and present in different materials.

Tuesday, February 28, we create with runes and make up our own symbols.

Wednesday, March 1, we look at jewelry and coins, and create our own treasures.


Monday, April 10, we make up our own stories and produce stop-motion animations.

Tuesday, April 11, we build a town together.

1-25 January open on Thursday 12th and January 19th at 14-16.

26 January vernissage at 16-18.30.

From January 27 to May 31 open Tuesday-Sunday at 12-16.

1 June to 31 August open every day at 12-16.

September 1 to December 31 open Tuesday-Sunday at 12-16.

CLOSED on Midsummer Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.


Free admission from October to April.

Entrance 50 SEK from May to September.

Free admission for everyone up to 19 years of age.
