Celebrate the Swedish National day in Sigtuna!

On the 6th of June, Sigtuna town invites new Swedish citizens to a ceremony with great fanfare. In Sigtuna, Valsta and Märsta, you are all invited to see  traditional Swedish folk dance and other activities such as live performances, a food court and family activities. At Steninge Castle, we celebrate ”Childrens’ National Day”. Taste the ”Sweden cake” at Wenngarn and listen to the live performance by Musikkår Tre Kronor at the royal palace Rosersberg.

Ceremony for new Swedish citizens in Sigtuna town

Program

11.30 am-12 pm: Swedish summer music performed by Sigtuna brassensemble. Place: Stora torget (the main square)

12 pm-1 pm: Ceremony for new Swedish citizens, welcomed by the chairman of the City Council. Place: Stora torget (the main square). If it rains, the cermony takes place at S:t Pers skola.

12 pm-4 pm: Exhibition ”Wood –Time is nothing” at Sigtuna museum. The exhibition contains 1000 years of archaeology, art, cultural heritage and design. Don’t miss out the new exhibition in the Town hall 12 pm-4 pm.

1 pm-2 pm: Sigtunabuggen, starts by the crazy golf.

2 pm-2.45 pm: Clown show for all the children. Place:Drakegården’s garden (the garden of the tourist office at Stora Gatan 33, Sigtuna)

3 pm-4.30 pm: National day celebration at Stora torget in Sigtuna. Sigtuna Hembygdsgård (the heritage centre of Sigtuna) will release the award ”Culture Prize 2016”.

 

Barnens Nationaldag at Steninge Castle

Time: 10 am-5 pm

Celebrate the Childrens’ National day at Steninge Castle with activities such as mini carneval, gardening school and riding tour on Icelandic horses. In the beautiful surroundings in front of the stone barn from 1873 you can enjoy delicious food, music and more fun activities for the whole family.

 

Wenngarn

Time: 10 am-6 pm (opening hours for the castle)

Wenngarn rise the Swedish flag for the National Day and keep the castle open. Taste the ”Swedish cake” in the castle or in the bakery. You are all invited!

 

Skokloster’s Castle

Time: 10 am-5 pm

Visit Skokloster Castle on the Swedish National Day with activites like market fair, music and performance by the choir Romeo & Julia, and horse riding for children. In addition, the summer exhibition ”Prakt & Makt” (in English: Pride & Power) will be inaugurated.

 

Rosersberg’s Palace

Time: 10 am-5 pm

At Rosersberg’s Palace, you can enjoy music, food and culture in a royal environment. Visit the new exhibition “Royal porcelain from Rörstrand”, enjoy Afternoon tea and cake buffet and listen to the live performance by Musikkår Tre Kronor.

 

Valstadagen

Time: 12 pm–6 pm

Place: Valsta vattentorn och Vattentornsparken (The water tower in Valsta)

Valstadagen is a festival with a fantastic international food court, music, activities and last but not least, joy and cultural meetings.

Many activities for children will be offered, for example Seg Way tryouts, face painting and climbing walls. The policemen and staff from the emergency services will also be on site to answer all the questions from the visitors.
